Don a robe and relax

Spending the whole day in a towelling robe at a spa doesn’t come naturally to me. However, staff at Elston’s Eden Hall Day Spa are experts at putting people at their ease and soon it seems perfectly normal — even when sitting down to a three-course lunch.
Robes are essential when wandering from pool to treatment room and to help create the relaxed atmosphere for which the spa is known.
In fact, Eden Hall has spent ten years creating a haven of relaxation and to mark its decade of pampering it is offering exclusive limited edition treatments throughout July.
The three offers include an anniversary facial from Elemis aimed at rebalancing and revitalising skin; an Indocene Back Ritual from Thalgo, with exfoliation and massage to relax mind and body; and a Summer Detox from Spa Find, to reduce cellulite in the legs, buttocks, and abdomen using a wrap with Dea Sea minerals.
I sampled the Elemis facial, a highlight of my day at the spa.
After cleansing and exfoliation, a face mask was applied and I was given a head and shoulder massage while the mask did its work.
This was followed by the application of a number of lotions and potions from the Elemis pro-collagen range — aimed at revitalising my tired-looking skin. The therapist tailors treatments to suit skin type or particular problems.
Each of the anniversary packages cost £110 and include full use of the spa facilities.
These are the saltwater vitality pool, water therapies, heated rooms, gymnasium, exercise and relaxation classes, lounges and chill-out areas. Robes and towels are provided as is a delicious three-course lunch.
There were seven classes timetabled on the day I was at Eden Hall, ranging from yoga and archery to salsa and stretching — which brings me back to the towelling robes.
They really do aid relaxation. I simply couldn’t be bothered to do any exercise at all.
