Police have warned the drivers of up to 100 souped-up cars to stay away from Newark after they took over a supermarket carpark on Easter Sunday and sped along town centre streets.

Nottinghamshire Police received dozens of calls from people concerned about the gathering that centred on the lower carpark at the town’s Asda supermarket.

It began at around 7.30pm.
