A little girl who is having her long hair cut to donate it to a charity that makes wigs for sick children has set a new fundraising target.

Faith Johnson, 5, a pupil at Archbishop Cranmer Church of England School, Aslockton, exceeded her initial £500 target and is nearing £1,000 — enough to provide two wigs.

The money will go to the Little Princess Trust, which will also receive Faith’s hair, after she has her waist-length locks cut at school on April 28.

The Vicar of the Cranmer Group of parishes, the Rev Bryony Wood, is among those to have sponsored Faith.

“Faith’s heart has gone out to children who are struggling with illness and chemotherapy, and she wants to make a difference,” Bryony said.

“What an unselfish and practical way to help — we can all learn something from her. You are an inspiration Faith.”
