Computer systems at the trust which runs Newark Hospital have been shut down amid a cyber attack which has hit the NHS across England.

Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which also runs King's Mill Hospital in Sutton-in-Ashfield, said on Twitter that its computer systems had been shut down due to an cyber attack which has affected the NHS nationally.

It said its accident and emergency department, which is at King's Mill, remained open.

The NHS has declared a major incident and it has been reported that up to 25 hospital trusts in England and Scotland have been affected by the cyber attack.
