A trustee of the National Holocaust Centre at Laxton has been made MBE in the Queen’s birthday honours.
Mr David Lipman, 80, of Caythorpe, Nottinghamshire, received the honour for services to Liberal Judaism and the Jewish community in Nottingham.
Mr Lipman founded the Nottingham Liberal Synagogue.
He set up a scholarship for children in Slavkov, in the Czech republic, and has been instrumental in the restoration of the town’s synagogue as a memorial to the former Jewish community that was lost in the Holocaust.
He became a trustee of the National Holocaust Centre in 2010.
Mr Lipman helps run the annual Caythorpe fete and village cricket team.
