A family fun day has been organised by a couple who are hoping to raise at least £700 for Beaumond House Community Hospice, Newark.

The event will be held at The Chesters, Balderton, on Saturday, from 2.30pm to 5.30pm.

It has been organised by Laura and Ben Errington who will be part of the team of runners representing the hospice at the Newark Half-marathon the following day.

They decided to take part as a thank you for the care given to Laura’s mum, Connie Harrison, who died at the hospice in 2001.

"She was well cared for and they really supported the family too," said Laura.

Laura said she had done a lot of fundraising in the past and felt it was time that she did something for the hospice.

They have set up a JustGiving page for donations but have also organised the fun day to help them achieve the target.

The couple, who now live in Wakefield, run an entertainment business so have used their experience to put on the event, which will feature a disco, games, face painting, bake sale, tombola and raffle.

Tickets cost £2 for adults and £1 for children.

They must be booked by emailing connieharrison@hot

Payment is through the Just-Giving page or on the door.
