A town centre restaurant has closed because of a down turn in business.
Mr Martyn Kirby, the owner of the Real Burger and Fish Co on London Road, Newark, said it was with deep regret and sadness that they have had to close.
He said there had been a significant decline in the casual dining sector over the past year. They have also been hit by the Severn Trent works to upgrade the town's sewerage system.
Mr Kirby said the work has had a massive impact on the town centre to the point that people were going out of Newark because of the grid lock problems.
"The nail in the coffin was when the main artery (Castlegate) was closed earlier this year," he said.
"This strangled our trade and we never fully recovered."
Mr Kirby said the closure had been a very hard decision to make but it had come to a point of no return and the business was not sustainable.
"We have had a very loyal following over the years in Newark and would like to thank all our customers," he said.
"We have employed on a full and part-time basis the very best staff Newark has to offer. I would like to thank them from the bottom of my heart."
