There is a very simple solution to the problems posed by the A1/A46/A17/B6166 junction at Newark.
The exit road capacity from the A1, north and south, should be doubled by converting the existing two-way feeder roads into one-way.
New feeds on to the A1 to the existing islands should be built on the adjacent land north of the northbound and south of the southbound carriageways.
This solution would be quick, easy, cheap and effective and would cause minimum disruption. — MARTIN SMITH, Southwell (Full address supplied).
