I had to travel to Nottingham so decided to use the train.

I got to the station early, put my money in the machine for a full day’s parking. Then the fun began — nowhere to park.

People were using the nearby carpark to go into town shopping.

There was a patch of land, which was not obstructing anything — there were no signs to say no parking — so I put my car there, showing I had a full day’s ticket.

You guessed it, I got a parking ticket.

My gripe is that these parking spaces should be for travellers using the railway. It is not the public’s fault but East Midlands Trains needs to sort this out.

In future I will go by bus. — Sue Johnson, Riverside Road, Newark.
