Newark Town's Sunday side lifted the Notts Junior Cup with a 3-0 success over Crown FC, of Nottingham, on Wednesday.

Town went into the game, played under the floodlights at AFC Mansfield, as firm favourites but Crown held them at bay for long periods.

It wasn't until the 80th minute that Newark finally made the breakthrough when centre forward Joe Braithwaite ran into the penalty area and firmly placed the ball beyond the reach of the keeper.

Four minutes later a shot from Tom Perkins hit the chest of Lois Cree and deflected into the net to make it 2-0.

Two minutes into injury-time Cree was brought down in the penalty area and Liam Warner stepped up to score from the resulting spot-kick to seal Town's victory.
