Around 200 tickets remain for fans who want to spend an evening with Nottingham Forest’s double European Cup winners.

Fifteen of the 17 men who won a European Cup medal will attend A Night Of Champions at the Cedric Ford Pavilion, Newark Showground.

The latest to confirm his appearance is Martin O’Neill, manager of the Republic of Ireland.

The evening is being hosted by the Newark branch of the Nottingham Forest Supporters’ Club on Friday, October 27, from 6pm.

It is for Beaumond House Community Hospice.

It is hoped every member of the 1979 and 1980 cup-winning teams will be present to talk about their experiences and there will be a question-and-answer session.

The club marked its 150th anniversary last year and the event is a continuation of those celebrations.

VIP tickets, which include a signed photograph from those present for each person at tables of ten, have sold out.

Tables of ten can be booked for £600, or £60 per seat.

A two-course meal and entertainment by a comedian is included in the price.

Sponsorship and VIP packages that offer extra access to the former players, and tickets, are available from branch secretary Matt Ridyard on 07590 817586.

Deposits need to be paid in advance at £100 for a table and £20 per seat.

Bus travel has been arranged from Newark to the showground at a cost of £5 per person return, but must be pre-booked.

Forest beat Malmo FF of Sweden 1-0 in 1979 thanks to a goal by Trevor Francis. They retained the trophy the following year by beating Germany’s Hamburg by the same margin thanks to a John Robertson strike.
