A total of 64 Caythorpe and Fulbeck Junior Football Club players, aged six to 14, visited the St George’s Park National Football Centre at Burton-on-Trent.

Together with 30 club coaches and parents, they had a guided tour around the facility, including the England players’ changing room, the pitch, an £8m indoor 4G arena and a large wall that contains the autograph of every professional player and famous person who has visited the centre.

The players had a 90-minute training session, involving skills and disciplines, led by four FA coaches. Each child was given a club-branded kit-bag, paid for out of club funds, as was most of the cost of the day.

The club’s mini-soccer programme for four to seven-year-olds, experienced or new to football, is currently running on Saturday mornings until July 8.

New players at all age groups are always welcome.

Club chairman Michael Budden said: “Everyone had a fantastic time and it was great so see the club’s players get so much enjoyment from the day — it was inspirational.

“The FA coaches said they had rarely hosted such a large and motivated group and were impressed with the number of club coaches in attendance.”
