Four members of Newark Athletic Club won medals at the Nottinghamshire Schools Championships and will now go on to represent the county this weekend.

They will be competing in the Mason Trophy Inter-Counties Schools Championships at the Alexander Stadium, Birmingham.

Anna Smith and Ben Smith were gold medalists at the Harvey Hadden Stadium, Nottingham, in the 800m and 1,500m respectively.

They will be joined in Birmingham by Laura Burles and Luke Sayer, who won silver medals in the 3,000m and 400m respectively.

Newark youngsters George Bacon, Katie MacKintosh, Maisie Archer-Dytch and  Tilly and Lauren Owens also did well at the Lincolnshire Schools Championships, winning medals and qualification for the Anglian Schools Championships in Cambridge, on Sunday.

George, Katie, Tilly and Lauren will compete in the Anglian Schools Combined Events meeting in Bedford later in the month.
