Local rivals will face-off for bragging rights when they play each other in a one-off Twenty20 match tomorrow.

Collingham will host Balderton at Dale Field at 6.30pm.

The two teams had been league opponents for the past three years in the South Notts League Division A before Balderton were relegated last season.

Both sides want to keep the rivalry going on the pitch and decided to do it through the Twenty20 match.

Collingham skipper Oliver Dyson said he was looking forward to playing against Balderton again.

“They were the top dog more when we went through a bit of a struggle 15 years ago,” he said. “However, we rebuilt and have had some great Saturday matches with Balderton over the past few years.

“They won a couple and then we won a few. It has made for a great rivalry that has always been good natured.

“After the match we would have a drink and take the mickey out of each other. It will be the same on Friday.

“Balderton are in a good place and have gained confidence at the start of the season, so they will be looking to prove themselves.”

David Lynn, captain of Balderton, said the match would be one of the highlights of the summer.

“It is going to be a brilliant night,” he said. “Rivalries like these are one of the main reasons you play cricket.

“We are friends off the pitch but it is always good to get those bragging rights.

“Tomorrow will be one of our biggest games of the season and hopefully we will have a good crowd.

“We deserve to be a Division A side so we want to show that and put in a good performance.”

The match will followed by live music, a barbecue and refreshments.
