Nottinghamshire Police launch murder investigation after man dies on Lombard Street, Newark




A murder investigation has been launched after a man was pronounced dead in the centre of Newark.

Emergency services were called to Lombard Street after 5pm yesterday (June 16), following a reported medical emergency concerning a man behind the wheel of a car.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is now being treated as a murder investigation, and detectives are urging witnesses to come forward with any information they may have.

Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time, and they will be supported by our specially trained officers.

“A team of detectives is now working to understand exactly what happened in the time before and during this incident.

“To this end they want to hear from anyone who saw or heard any part of what happened.

“Anyone with information about this incident should call 101 quoting incident 737 of June 16, 2025. Information can also be passed in confidence to Crimestoppers.”
