Newark Federation fished their Christmas Cheer match on the Wier Field section of the Dyke.

Collingham’s normal season has finished but a nice day saw 28 of their members turn out for a sweepstake at their Millennium Fishery on Sunday.

With their Christmas dinners at stake, 40 Collingham anglers turned out for the club’s Christmas Cheer match on Millennium Fishery, with 20 fishing on each lake.

The Newark Open was fished on the Weir Field section of the Dyke from pegs 1-36 and 15 anglers took part.

Collingham fished their annual pairs match at the Millennium Fishery and 30 anglers took part, with 15 on each lake.

Saturday’s Bob Willows Memorial Match held at Portland on the Old Lake and Long Island was fished by 36 anglers on a lovely sunny autumn day.

This Saturday the latest member of the Human Plummet Club is hoping that people will splash the cash at a charity match at Portland Fishery on the Old Lake and Four Islands.

With the Division One National Championships being held on the Trent this year, the Newark Open match on Sunday attracted an excellent entry of 65 on a low clear river.

Having been away on a week’s fishing holiday in Holland, I missed the start of the river season.

With the river season nearly here, June 16 is a major day in many an anglers’ diary, and Newark Federation are inviting entries to their first match of the season at Hudson’s Bay a week on Sunday.
