Warriors FC at Newark Academy will benefit from a new £20,000 pavilion

A grassroots football club says 150 children will benefit from new £20,000 facilities.

Warriors FC, a youth team based at the Newark Academy, London Road, are planning a summer tournament to celebrate the launch of their new pavilion, which includes new changing facilities, toilets and social areas.

The project was launched three years ago, and on its summer time completion, will have cost £20,000.

Nick Rawson, a committee member at the junior club, said the pavilion would allow the team to continue providing grassroots football to the community by facilitating cup finals and other football events.

Fifteen youth teams, with players from under-five to under-16s, will use the new facilities, paid for by community projects and fundraising events.

The club has also planned a new social area to bring life to the pavilion, which will feature a sponsors wall hosting logos and names of local businesses.

“The social area will be used each week by both home and away teams, and their parents,” said Nick.

“The area will have great exposure as it is also home to our tuck shop, which serves hot and cold food, and drinks, to all parents who will be watching their children play football.

“[It is] a great community success and something we are very proud of.”
