A man who flouted a restraining order by contacting a woman through the messaging service, WhatsApp, has been jailed.
Joseph Spinley, 24, was imprisoned for 14 weeks at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to breaching the order between March 29 and April 6. It was a second breach.
Magistrates said his actions had a significant impact on the victim.
A community order previously imposed for two offences of harassing the woman was revoked.
Spinley, of Cherry Holt, Newark, was re-sentenced for those offences — speaking to the woman directly, sending her emails and texts and refusing to leave her car.
He was given two concurrent sentences of ten weeks in prison and ordered to pay £115 costs.
