A primary school in Newark is closed following an attempted break-in that damaged its main entrance and five windows.
Lovers' Lane Primary School, Newark, is closed to pupils following the overnight incident and was due to open again tomorrow.
Headteacher Jenny Hodgkinson said: "The safety of pupils is our utmost concern and this is why we closed the school.
"The break-in affected five windows and a main door and was in an area that is a busy thoroughfare for both pupils and staff.
"Closing the school has given the police a chance to gather evidence relating to the break-in and for workmen to be in school to repair the damage."
She said she hoped the school would be open again tomorrow.
