A damaged pipe on Friary Road, Newark, left some residents with little or no water.

An eyewitness reported that workers said they had hit a pipe before water flew up higher than nearby trees, near the Friary Fields care home.

There was a substantial amount of water at the mini roundabout connecting Sleaford Road and Friary Road.

Drivers were able to pass through.

A spokesman for Severn Trent said: "As part of our ongoing work in Newark, contractors working on our behalf have accidentally damaged one of our water pipes which is causing some of our customers to have little or no water.

“We’re really sorry for any inconvenience, but our teams are on site and their priority will be to fix the pipe and return everything back to normal as quickly as possible.”
