£4.1 million jackpot shared out among People's Postcode Lottery players in Tuxford near Newark

Some 606 lottery players in Tuxford, near Newark, have won a share of £4.1 million.

It’s the single biggest People’s Postcode Lottery prize with more than £4 million shared among a winning community in the NG22 0 postcode – more than £1 million extra than in a usual monthly prize draw.

Four Haynes Close neighbours won the biggest amounts, each pocketing £333,009 per ticket after NG22 0JA was revealed as the full winning postcode today (Saturday).

Among them was 75-year-old John Leachman, who doubled his prize winnings to £666,018 thanks to playing with two tickets.

He said: “I can’t believe it, I’m absolutely dumbfounded. This is going to make so much difference to us, it’s just incredible.”

The retired software manufacturing consultant and his wife, Christine, plan to use some of their winnings to find their dream home.

John said: “We’ve always wanted to move to a quiet little bungalow and now this changes everything, we can’t wait to go property shopping.

“We both love travelling and maybe when we can do that again we’d go back to Australia or Canada; we’d love to visit some of its beautiful mountains and lakes.”

The couple plan on celebrating the six-figure sum with a takeaway from their favourite local restaurant and “some fizz and maybe a gin and tonic or two”.

There was one last thing on John’s wish list. He added: “I’ve always fancied a Bentley. So, if there’s money left after the house and helping the family out, I might treat myself to that.”

The other three big winners of the day chose to remain anonymous.

Prize amounts for other winners in the neighbourhood ranged from £3,132 to £9,396 depending on the number of tickets played with.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson said: “This Postcode Millions prize was bigger and better, with a whopping £4.1 million shared among over 600 lucky winners in Newark.
