David Wilson Homes donated butterly house to Nightingale Nursing and Care Home, Edwinstowe
Staff and residents at a nursing home have been given a helping hand to get closer to nature.
Nightingale Nursing and Care Home in Edwinstowe was given pollinators and a butterfly house by David Wilson Homes.
The donation was made to mark the Big Butterfly Count, which is taking place until Sunday.
Catherine Egley, senior home manager, said: “The residents have really enjoyed the donation and it has given them a sense of wellbeing and a nice area to visit within the grounds, which are due for landscaping, but the donations will be a part of the refurbishment plans.”
The collaboration is the latest link between the housebuilder and nature.
It has also included sharing knowledge and expertise over landscape guides, a development of brick for swifts to nest in and wildlife-friendly show gardens.
Mark Cotes, managing director at David Wilson Homes North Midlands, said:“Making sure we provide homes for wildlife as well as our customers is one of our greatest priorities as a leading housebuilder.
“We also aim to ensure our local communities are involved in the bid to support local wildlife and we hope the donation to Nightingale Nursing and Care Home will help the residents enjoy watching butterflies visit their garden.”
The homebuilders facility in Thoresby Vale includes wildlife-friendly feature such as bird boxes, bat boxes, swift bricks, a bee box, hedgehog homes and highways.
