A-levels 2024: Magnus Church of England Academy, Newark, students ready for next adventure
Magnus Church of England Academy’s students have achieved a 97% pass rate, with half the cohort heading off to university.
It was a small cohort this year at the school, but the students have nonetheless left their mark, and are now ready for the next chapter in their lives — whether it be university or joining the workforce.
Students studying subjects within the social sciences performed very well, particularly in subjects such as criminology and health and social care.
50% of the cohort are planning to further their education by attending university.
Among those is Isaac Sills, who excelled in his Level Three BTEC Extended Diploma in sport, achieving a distinction* and two distinctions.
Now he’s ready to study sport, exercise science and coaching at Nottingham Trent University’s Clifton Campus.
Isaac said: “I’m excited, my results mean I get to go to uni and do the course I wanted.”
Also heading off to university are Gracie Webster and Paige Jackson.
Gracie has secured a place at Bishop Grosseteste University in Lincoln to study sports coaching and physical education.
Paige has secured a place at The University of Lincoln to study criminology and social policy.
Principal Anna Martin said: "Despite being a very small cohort this year, our students certainly made their presence known around the academy, worked hard, and have achieved the grades that will enable them to take their chosen next steps.
“I would like to extend our very best wishes from everyone in the Magnus family, and to remind them that they will always be part of us, and we would love to see them and hear of their adventures in the years ahead."
