A-levels 2024: Students in Nottinghamshire celebrate A-level success, with results from schools in Newark, Southwell, Ollerton, Bingham, Tuxford and more
Young people will be celebrating years of hard work today (Thursday, August 15) as they receive their A-level results and get ready for the next chapter of their lives.
The Advertiser will be sharing results from schools in Newark, Southwell, Ollerton, Bingham, Tuxford and other areas as we have them.
Nottinghamshire County Council has congratulated the county’s students on their efforts, as well as offering advice on next steps.
Sam Smith, cabinet member for education and SEND, said: “I’d like to offer my congratulations to the students across Nottinghamshire who have received their A-level results today.
“Whatever your results, you should be proud of all your hard work. If you have not received the results you were hoping for today there are still lots of options and help available to you.
“For those of you that are looking for opportunities that are not in higher education there are plenty of employers, including the county council, who offer apprenticeship opportunities which help with gaining new skills and workplace experiences.
“A huge thank you as well to the teachers, parents, carers and families who have also supported young people throughout their education.”
Schools and colleges offer support from dedicated advisers and have a wide range of information available.
The National Careers Service also provides information to help young people decide on their next steps.

The chief executive of Nova Education Trust, which runs schools including Newark Academy, and Toot Hill School in Bingham, has also congratulated students on their achievements.
Ash Rahman said: “Our young people have consistently demonstrated resilience and determination, overcoming challenges to achieve their grades.
“As our students embark on the next chapter of their lives, we wish them continued success and fulfilment.”
Students at Magnus Church of England Academy have achieved a 97% pass rate, with 50% of the cohort planning to attend university.
Among those is Isaac Sills, who achieved a distinction* and two distinctions in his Level Three BTEC Extended Diploma in sport, and will be attending Nottingham Trent University.

Pupils from Toot Hill College in Bingham have received their A-level results, with 23% achieving A* to A grades and 76% achieving A* to C grades.
Headteacher Chris Eardley said he is “so proud” of all of the pupils.
He added: “They fully deserve the fantastic set of results they have secured that enable them to access an aspirational set of destinations.
“More importantly, these results simply benchmark the great learning that has taken place in the college that has also seen them develop their character and mature into very well-rounded young adults.

Over in Radcliffe on Trent, students at South Nottinghamshire Academy, part of the Redhill Academy Trust, has reported “outstanding” results in their A-levels and other examination qualifications this summer.
Anna Cox, Head of Sixth Form, said: “Students and staff have worked extremely hard to secure some of the Academy’s most outstanding results - it is so pleasing to see students gain their places at prestigious universities or progress to their destination of choice in employment or training.”

Headteachers at Sir William Robertson Academy in Welbourn says the achievements of the Year 13 pupils reflect their dedication and the high calibre of education at the school.
Just some of the high-achieving students at SWRA is Edward Anderson, who achieved A* grades in mathematics and further mathematics, an A in chemistry, and a distinction* in computing.
His peer, Matthew Richardson, also from Carlton Le Moorland, excelled with A grades in chemistry, physics, and mathematics and a B in further mathematics.

Tuxford Academy’s students achieved an A level pass rate of 98%, with 50% of students gaining an A* to A equivalent grades.
Principal Jon Hardy, said: “We are thrilled that our students have achieved fantastic A level results this year. Their hard work, dedication, and resilience have truly paid off, and we couldn’t be more proud of their successes.”

The Minster School, Southwell, is celebrating the ‘fantastic’ achievement of its sixth form students, as a quarter of all its A-level grades are A and A*s.
Head Ben Chaloner, expressed his delight at the school’s performance, and said: “We are incredibly proud of our students’ achievements and are confident that they are well-prepared for the next chapter of their lives, whether it be further education, apprenticeships, or entering the workforce.”

Students at Newark Academy are celebrating after picking up some exceptional A-level results.
School head Inma Peña, said: “I’m really proud of all our students and staff because it’s been a team effort to get such positive outcomes.
“What was most important was making sure that all our students got the results they needed to enable them to go onto their chosen pathways.
“It’s not just university either. We’ve had more apply for apprenticeships this year than ever before.”

It wasn’t just A-level students picking up their results today as technical colleges were celebrating successes too.
Students from Newark College across all level 3 disciplines including T Level, Technical and UAL qualifications collected their results.
Lincoln College Group, which includes Newark College, achieved a 91% pass rate across Level 3 technical training (including BTECs).
