Speeding drivers have been sentenced at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court

A woman has been banned from the roads from 14 months after being convicted of speeding.

Audi driver Lisa Goodwin, 42, of The Crescent, Bilsthorpe, had denied she was travelling at 49mph in a 30mph zone of the A60 at Cuckney Hill.

Goodwin was found guilty following a trial at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court and, in addition to the 14 month ban, she was fined £260 and ordered to pay £304 costs.

A 51-year-old driver avoided a totting-up disqualification from magistrates because of the exceptional hardship it would cause.

Magistrates heard a ban would mean the loss of a small plumbing business and the hardship caused to employees.

Mark Derry, of Grange Road, Newark, pleaded to driving at 38mph in a 30mph on Hawton Road.

His driving record was endorsed with three points and he was fined £215 and told to pay £176 costs.
