A1 carriageway closed south of Newark following serious crash

There are tailbacks on the A1 this morning (Friday) as emergency repairs take place following a serious crash near Grantham last night.

According to traffic reports, a van collided with the central reservation between the Little Ponton and Harlaxton slip-roads and ended up on the opposite carriageway, just after 11pm last night.

Emergency repairs on the northbound carriageway are currently under way and diversions are in place.

The southbound carriageway is expected to stay closed between Little Ponton and Harlaxton until at least noon with delays going on into the afternoon.

Diversions are in place.
