A1 closed from Newark to West Drayton after serious collision at Markham Moor




The A1 has now fully re-opened.

One lane of the A1 is closed for 16 miles from Newark after a serious crash.

It is shut from the A1 at North Muskham northbound to West Drayton, with a further closure southbound of here.

It follows a serious collision this morning at Markham Moor.

People have been asked to avoid the area.

Emergency road and barrier repairs are currently taking place.

The police have now asked drivers to avoid the area while officers carry out their investigations.

Inspector Keiron Hancock, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are urging motorists to please avoid the area as our officers continue to carry out their investigations.

“The road is set to remain closed for several hours including throughout rush hour so we would ask any drivers to please use an alternate route and thank them for their patience.

“We would ask anyone with any information or dash-cam footage to get in touch on 101, quoting incident number 94 of February 11, 2022."
