A1 crash driver dies
A lorry driver involved in a two-vehicle collision on the A1 yesterday has died.
The lorry was travelling northbound when the accident happened near Muskham at around 11.20am.
The red and yellow Renault articulated lorry was in collision with a large red agricultural truck, known as a root crop harvester.
The lorry driver suffered significant leg injuries and was airlifted to Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry.
He died in the early hours of this morning.
The 66-year-old driver of the agricultural vehicle was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
After the collision both the northbound and southbound carriageways were closed between North Muskam and the A46 junction at Newark.
The southbound side reopened at 3pm yesterday and the northbound at around midnight.
