A17 crash driver named
Police have named a man who died following a crash outside Newark Golf Club yesterday morning.
Neil Hunt, 59, of Lowestoft, Norfolk, was driving an MGF car along the A17 at around 7.45am when he was involved in a collision with a lorry and a van.
It happened outside the entrance of Newark Golf Club. His car was badly damaged and he was trapped inside for around two hours while firefighters worked to free him.
He suffered serious multiple injuries and was airlifted to Lincoln County Hospital, where he later died.
The driver of the lorry was uninjured and the driver of the other vehicle, a Vauxhall Astra van, suffered minor injuries.
The road was closed for several hours and was reopened once the scene was cleared.
Police would like to speak to witnesses who can help establish the circumstances surrounding the crash.
