A46 closed between Cattle Market and Brownhills roundabout in Newark

The A46 has closed following a collision.

The road is closed between the Cattle Market and Brownhills roundabout.

Four vehicles were involved in the road traffic incident and the bridge (pictured below) has been damaged.

Newark Police said: "Thankfully, there are no serious injuries.

"The bridge has been damaged so the road will re-open as soon as the vehicles have been recovered and when it is safe to do so.

"Please avoid if at all possible."

The AA Roadwatch suggests there is heavy congestion at the Farndon roundabout and in the town centre because of the collision.
