A46 bridge over A1 at Newark reopens after van fire attended by Nottinghamshire Police and Fire and Rescue Service




The A46 has fully reopened after a van fire caused one lane to be closed.

Newark and Tuxford fire crews attended the scene, alongside Nottinghamshire Police.

One lane of the road was closed while emergency services attended to the incident.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: “Emergency services were called to reports of a van fire on the A46 at Winthorpe, near Newark, at around 3.40pm today.

“The carriageway was closed while recovery of the vehicle took place but the road has now been fully reopened.”

Fire crews left the scene to police after the fire was extinguished.

No injuries were reported.

Roads around the scene of the incident remain congested, with delays of over 20 minutes reported on Sleaford Lane Westbound between the A17 and the A1 and on the A46 Southbound.
