Actor seeks cast and crew for short film investigating autism it is hoped will be entered into Royal Television Society Awards
An actor is seeking cast and crew for a project that she hopes will break down barriers and lead to greater understanding of autism.
It is a first foray into directing for Lucy Moon, from Balderton, who is autistic.
She is seeking to collaborate on the project, who can also have autism, to collaborate on the project with the aim of entering the short film into next year’s Royal Television Society Awards.
The 23-year-old Peaky Blinders fan needs a maximum of two camera people, someone for sound, a clapperboard operator, an editor, someone to manage the social media side, someone to take photographs on set, a videographer, script editor/supervisor and note-taker for pre and post production.
She also needs a couple of writers to bounce ideas off.
And, of course, she needs actors.
Former Grove School and Grantham College student Lucy, who is currently learning both French and Korean, wants to star in the West End as Maria in the Sound of Music one day,
Lucy said: “This will be a zero to low-budget film that will hopefully have a big impact.
“My idea is that it’s an open mic night and that I’m performing but that it’s sensory overload – the lights are too bright, the noise too loud – all of the things that affect people with autism.
“People realise and ask themselves ‘how is she going to perform?’ My message is that I am not there to be judged until I have been heard.
“Yes, I have autism but, as with anyone, if you work hard, be patient, and are disciplined, you can achieve anything.
“I hope this project will break down barriers and be an insight into autism.
“Someone once said that autism is not a disability, just a different ability.
“We’re all human beings and all unique in our own ways.
“If you feel you would like to get involved, no matter how much experience you have as we can help each other along the way.”
Lucy, a former Advertiser Child of Courage for doing very well at school with Asperger’s, is working with renowned local film-maker Steve Watson on the project.
