Winners revealed for Advertiser Pet Of The Year competition

The winners of the Advertiser’s annual Pet Of The Year competition can be revealed ­— step forward Clementine, Minnie and Lady.

Clementine the cow was a clear winner in the best other pet category, and was also chosen for the overall Pet Of the Year honour by sponsors Minster Vets.

The five-year-old was described by her owner as a very lovable and friendly cow who loves people.

Emily Boby, who has had Clementine for about a year, got her as an early birthday present to herself.

“We saw the competition on the Advertiser website and my mum said that I should enter Clementine in it because I’m always going on about it,” said Emily.

“I never thought that she would win because I thought people would say oh it’s a cow, it’s not a pet but obviously Clementine is a pet to me.

“We walk her with the dogs and I always buy her a pack of biscuits because she loves it.

“She’s just got her own personality, when she’s not stressed out I can hug her, I can take her out and she’s just lovely. She’s really different from the other cows.

“She’s just so friendly. She really likes people.”

Emily was very pleased that her pet won the competition as she is finally getting the recognition her cow deserves as a pet.

The name Clementine was its original pedigree name, which the current owner decided to keep.

Clementine lives on Emily’s boyfriend’s farm near East Bridgford.

Emily has always worked on dairy farms so has always been involved and near cows.

Winner of the best cat category was Minnie.

Delighted owner Joanne Clarke, of Farnsfield, thanked the Advertiser readers who voted for her pet.

Winner of the best dog category was Lady, who was also a winner in the cutest picture, along with Annabelle.

Their owners, Dana and Adan Renwick, of Balderton, thanked readers for the votes.
