Air weapons have been recovered from a house in Newark where a man barricaded himself inside last night (Monday February 3).

Police began searching the address, in Trinity Road, after the 30-year-old man left the house voluntarily at around 4.20am this morning (Tuesday).

The man has been arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and being in possession of firearms.

He will be interviewed by detectives today.

Police were called to the house at around 6.45pm following reports a man was inside, possibly with a firearm.

The road was closed while police carried out their enquiries and local residents are thanked for their co-operation and patience.
