People all over the area are preparing for a massive weekend of celebrations to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
For some, the celebrations have already started.
A tea party for more than 60 pensioners from care homes and luncheon clubs in the Newark and Balderton areas was held at Highfields School, Newark. It had a red, white and blue theme.
The school’s head, Mrs Claire Fraser, said: “It’s brilliant for the children to have the opportunity to chat to people who were around at the time of the coronation.
“The Diamond Jubilee is something that won’t happen again in our lifetime and probably won’t happen again in the children’s either.”
