Lowe's Wong Infants School, Southwell, raise more than £1,000 at its annual May fair




More than £1,000 was raised thanks to a school May fair.

Lowe’s Wong Infants School, Southwell, held its annual May fair on Saturday and, despite the miserable weather, over 100 families turned up to support the event.

It kicked off with a fun run around the sports field, in which around 40 children took part.

There was also stalls, including a chocolate tombola, lollypop dip, face painting and a barbecue, and there was also a penalty shoot-out where the winner took home a signed Mansfield Town FC shirt.

The school’s country dancing club put on a maypole dancing display.

Overall, more than £1,000 for the school’s Friends of the School fund, which will be used to buy a slide for the children to use down the hill on the school field.

Head Ali Speed said: “The day was really well supported, despite the drizzly weather, and we even had families who weren’t involved with the school coming down to see us.”
