A man caught with a hatchet on the street in the village where he lives received a suspended prison sentence after he admitted having an offensive weapon in a public place.
Carl Johanson, 49, of Bilsthorpe Road, Eakring, received a sentence of four months, suspended for a year.
He was told to pay £213 in costs.
A 23-year-old who assaulted a man at a Kirklington pub received a hefty fine of £1,344 after being found guilty at trial.
Luke Monington, of Valley Road, Bilsthorpe assaulted a man at the Copper Beech Public House, causing him actual, bodily harm.
Magistrates ordered Monington pay £200 compensation and £444 court costs.
