Toot Hill School in Bingham celebrate great success in their education with A-level results
There was an air of excitement and a sigh of relief for students and faculty at Toot Hill School in Bingham as A-level results were delivered.
86% of students achieved A* to C grades with 34% achieving A* to A results.
"We are so proud of all our students at Toot Hill," said Head, Dr. Chris Eardley.
"They have secured a fantastic set of results that enable them to access an aspirational set of destinations.
"More importantly, these results simply benchmark the great learning that has taken place in the college.
"These students are lovely young people who have developed a strength of character that will serve them very well in life.
"I would also like to thank our staff, parents and carers. By working as a team, we secure the best possible futures for our students."
Three students achieved 4 A* grades which included Yasmin Rahman.
Yasmin scored the results across Mathematics, further mathematics, Chemistry, and French.
"I got into natural sciences at Durham University which was my first choice," said Yasmin.
"Now that I have my results, it is a massive weight off my shoulders.
"Covid had a huge impact on our studies.
"Covering the content was difficult for A-levels, especially at the start of year 12 because we did not cover all the content from GCSEs."
Alice Booker who achieved 3A*s in economics, geography, and Psychology will be heading to Cambridge to study geography.
"I was very nervous coming in but now that I have my results I am relieved and happy," she said.
Sophie King studied English, geography, and history achieving two A*s and one A.
"Next year I will be going to Durham University to study geography, I am happy I got into the course I wanted," said Sophie.
"I felt a lot of pressure at the time of the exams but I am very pleased it is over now.
"Covid definately did have an impact, especially with teachers getting covid and being off.
"I am just happy that we were able to get through it.
Charlie Cox will be going to Oxford in September after achieving one A* in economics, and 2 As in history and mathematics.
"I will be heading to Oxford University to study philosophy, politics, and economics," said Charlie.
"It went really well, I was a bit nervous coming in, I've been thinking about this for a while but it comes around quicker than you think.
"I am happy and looking forward to moving on to new things.
"I am excited to see what the future holds."
Aspiring triathlete Solomon Okrafo-Smart achieved three Bs in
mathematics, physics, and art.
"I am happy with my results, it has got me into what I wanted," said Solomon.
"During my studies, I was also training hard in triathlon and that was quite tough.
"I plan on taking a year out and then going to university next year.
"I am still deciding what I want to study, in the meantime, I will concentrate on sport.
"I will be moving out of juniors so it will be a much tougher year and I will be working hard to try and make the world championships.
"This will be difficult to achieve in the under-23 year bracket but I am going to do my best."
