Ancient Japanese art to be explored in exhibition at Fulbeck village hall

Curious to find out more about ikebana, the ancient Japanese art of flower arrangement, interested in contemporary floral design, or want to find out about what for many is a meditative activity?

Visit a free exhibition by members of Ikebana Lincolnshire on Sunday, May 29, from 11am to 3pm at Fulbeck Village Hall.

On display will be a mix of modern, creative displays and more traditional and formal arrangements with local Japanese and English members on hand to answer questions.

Fulbeck-based ikebana teacher and event organiser Rie Day said: “Some arrangements will show what people often think of as typically Japanese — like blossoms and irises.

But we also like to take things florists might overlook or use unusual containers.

“Of course our arrangements can have precious, show-stopping flowers but sometimes we find great beauty in the little or everyday things in our own gardens and hedgerows.”
