Three men arrested in Beckingham on suspicion of being involved in organised animal fighting

Three men have been arrested in connection with organised animal fighting.

The men — aged 33, 45 and 52 — were arrested earlier today (Friday, May 24) on suspicion of being involved or attending an organised animal fight, under Section 8 of the Animal Welfare Act 2006.

The arrest comes after more than 50 Lincolnshire Police officers carried out four search warrants at a Travellers site in Beckingham in a joint operation with the RSPCA.

A number of items were seized, including cockerels, dogs, a suspected stolen caravan, two vans and a quad bike.

The execution of the warrants, which allow for areas of the site to be searched, is part of a wider investigation into the illegal activity of cockerel fighting.

The men remain in custody while investigations are ongoing.
