A fault which left barriers at Rolleston stuck in the up position has been fixed.

Network Rail warned motorists that the red lights were flashing and a train could be approaching.

The problem was reported at 1.50pm and was fixed at around 2.45pm.

The crossing suffered the same fault on August 27 and crossings at Staythorpe and Newark Castle have also encountered problems in recent months.

The problems have occurred since Network Rail switched to an automated system operated in a control centre in Derby.
