Nottinghamshire Police appealing for witnesses and information after serious assault on Stodman Street, Newark




An appeal for witnesses has been launched after a serious assault in a town centre.

Nottinghamshire Police officers are appealing for witnesses and information after a man was assaulted in Newark the early hours of this morning (April 12).

The attack happened outside Boots, on Stodman Street, shortly before 1.45am.

The victim has not yet been identified and is believed to have left the scene shortly after his attacker.

Officers are appealing for him and anyone else with information to come forward without delay.

PC Rebecca Skinner said: “We know this man was subject to a sustained and serious assault but currently do not know who he is or why he was targeted in this way.

“As we work to understand what happened here we are asking anyone with relevant information to come forward.

“We are also appealing directly for the victim to come forward so we can help him get the justice he deserves.

“We particularly want to hear from any witnesses who saw any kind of argument in the moments leading up this assault.

“Even the smallest piece of information may prove vital in this investigation.”
