Appeal launched after hit and run on A617 near Kelham leaves victim needing hospital treatment

A witness and dash-cam appeal has been launched by police, following a hit and run which left a man needing hospital treatment.

The incident occurred on the A617 near Kelham, when the victim got into an argument with a driver of another car.

He got out of the vehicle he was in to speak to the other motorist, who responded by driving his car straight at him.

Nottinghamshire Police is appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage of a hit and run.

The victim ended up on the car bonnet after being hit, before being flung from it when the car continued to be driven forwards for a short while.

His leg was then reportedly run over as he lay on the ground, with the driver — who is described as a white man — then speeding off instead of stopping.

The victim was left with injuries that required hospital treatment following the road rage incident, which happened at around 11am on November 3.

An investigation has been ongoing since then, and officers are now appealing to anyone who was driving through the area at the time to get in touch with them.

Investigator Michael Woods, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We know a few weeks have now passed since this incident, but there must have been other motorists passing by who saw what happened.

“Failing that, they may have, without their knowledge, recorded parts of this road rage incident on dash-cam as they drove by or followed behind.

“If you can recall driving towards Kelham on the A617 around that time, we’d ask that you please review any dash-cam footage you have, as it could help us identify the other driver.”

Anyone with information is asked to share it with the police by calling 101, quoting incident number 235 of November 3, 2024, or report it anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
