Open Studios Nottinghamshire returns for 2025, with artists exhibiting their work in Newark, Southwell and Upton.

Creatives from across the district are to open up their studios to visitors — including a Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year finalist.

Now in its 14th year, Open Studios Nottinghamshire returns for a month-long celebration of artistic excellence in May.

Across the four weekends, 130 artists and makers will open their doors at 67 locations across Nottinghamshire — showing everything from contemporary painting and ceramics to textile design and printmaking.

“Public visits, purchases, and commissions are the lifeblood of an artist’s practice,” stated the OS Notts team.

“When visitors engage with an artist’s work, it’s not just about purchasing something beautiful — it’s about understanding the passion, skill, and dedication behind it.”

In Newark, those exhibiting their work will include painter David Moore at his Newark Art Gallery premises; collage and drawing artist Vanessa Stone and mixed media artist Emily Cartwright at the Governor’s House; and, at Narrowly, on Wood Street, painter and photographer Sasha Silberman-Hanks, printmaking and stained glass artist Lucy Wakefield, mixed media artist Megan Cooper, ink painter Kallum Ennis, painter and mosaic artist Justyna Rozyc, mosaic artist Wendy Silberman, printmaker Brian Voce, and collage artist and photographer Callum Harrison.

Upton’s offering of artists will include painter and sculptor Susan Isaac, who was a finalist in this year’s Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year; painter Jude Rawson; photographer Richard Jones; and ceramicist Susan Morton.

In Southwell the open studios will be those of drawer and photographer Lucy Hudson; mixed media artist Poppy White; drawing artist Cynthia Harrison Orr; sculptural artists David Harworth and Lucy Beckett of Bright Green Workshop; painters Jackie Berridge, Ben Nathaniel, Helen Sills, Jill Langford, Peter Cartwright; and lino printer Ross Williams.

Artists at the Harley Foundation Studios at Welbeck, Thoresby Courtyard, Farnsfield, Halam, Flintham and Bingham and surrounding villages will also open their studio doors.

Exhibitions will take place at different location and on different days throughout May — for full details of each open studio, including those in other areas of the county, visit www.osnotts.co.uk.

As well as seeing the artists’ work and their studio spaces, it is also an opportunity for visitors to connect with the artists, hear the stories behind each piece, and even buy original works or commission bespoke pieces.
