Asda will no longer offer 24-hour shopping at its Newark store, citing a change in customer shopping habits.

The supermarket, on Lombard Street, is currently open continuously from 7am on Monday to 10pm on Saturday. Sunday hours are from 10am to 4pm.

It is currently the only supermarket in Newark which offers 24-hour opening.

However, the store will now close at midnight on Monday to Friday, open between 6am and 10pm on Saturday, and retain its existing Sunday opening hours.

New Asda opening hours

  • Monday 7am - midnight

  • Tuesday 6am – midnight

  • Wednesday 6am – midnight

  • Thursday 6am – midnight

  • Friday 6am – midnight

  • Saturday 6am – 10pm

  • Sunday 10am – 4pm

The new hours come into effect on Monday.

No staff will lose their jobs as a result of the changed hours, and no in-store services will be cut.

Asda said it reviewed demand for 24-hour shopping on an ongoing basis and had changed opening hours following a recent monitoring of customer shopping habits.
