Prolific Ollerton and Boughton area shoplifter handed Christmas prison sentence for thefts, assault, and breach of her criminal behaviour order

A prolific shoplifter with a ‘flagrant disregard for court orders’ has been jailed, following an assault, thefts and breaching her criminal behaviour order.

Well-known Boughton shoplifter Sally Knowles, 40, who gave a Nottingham address in court, has been sentenced to 24 weeks in prison, relating to a number of offences, following a hearing at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, December 17.

The offences occurred shortly after she was released from a previous prison sentence.

On Saturday, December 14, at Heron Foods, Forest Road, Ollerton, Knowles assaulted a woman by beating, and also stole approximately £100 worth of chocolates.

Then, the following day, Sunday, December 15, she paid a visit to Boyes, Forest Road, where she stole sweets and two woks, worth approximately £60.

Both of these incidents also amounted to breaches of Knowles’ criminal behaviour order, which bars her from entering Forest Road.

Two more offences were also carried out by the repeat offender earlier in the month, on December 10, at Radford Road’s Asda, where Knowles was involved in the handling of a stolen bank card, and subsequently committed fraud by false representation by using the stolen bank card.

She pleaded guilty to all offences.

District Judge S Khanna sentenced Knowles to 20 weeks imprisonment for each criminal behaviour order breach, an eight week prison sentence was imposed for each of the two thefts, and a further week imprisonment was ruled for the fraud — all to be served concurrently.

An additional two week imprisonment was given for the assault, as well as an order for £100 of compensation, and a further two weeks for handling the stolen bank card.

Knowles’ total imprisonment sentence is 24 weeks, which was deemed necessary due to her “flagrant disregard for people and their property” and “flagrant disregard for court orders”.

Sherwood Police stated: “Prolific shoplifter Sally Knowles from Boughton has been arrested and charged with a number of offences which have been committed in the short time she has been released from prison.

“[Her sentencing] will hopefully offer some reassurance to the public and also to staff in the local shops that Knowles persistently targets.

“Without staff or the public reporting incidents to us, we cannot take action so a thank you to all those who do report it.”
