Award-winning year for Bingham based healthcare company as it marks 20th anniversary

Medichecks, the UK’s leading healthcare testing company, is celebrating an award-winning 12 months as it draws its 20th anniversary year to a close.

After pivoting its business to play a vital role in the fight against covid-19, Bingham’s Medichecks triumphed in a range of awards — earning industry recognition for its efforts in ecommerce, tech innovation, leadership and employee wellbeing.

The business was named healthtech company of the year in the Global Business Tech Awards; recognised and rewarded for providing much-needed services to consumers self-managing their health conditions during the pandemic and supporting an overstretched NHS.

A partnership with the NHS Blood and Transplant Service saw it supply over 37,000 CE-marked blood test kits in just three months as part of a major research project to assess covid-19 antibody levels among potential plasma donors.

That earned the company the eCommerce website of the year title at the Digital City Awards, with its growth team also picking up the best digital SME team award at the same ceremony.

Medichecks chief executive and co-founder Helen Marsden, named director of the year at Management Today’s Inspiring Women in Business Awards in recognition of the business’ achievements, said: “It’s an honour to be recognised in these prestigious awards — especially in our 20th year of trading.

“The last couple of years have been a challenge and I’m so proud of our team’s dedication and commitment, despite the trials we’ve faced as an industry. The fact, we have been able to grow our team, expand our services and earn industry recognition, is a significant achievement and I can’t wait to see what we accomplish in 2022.”

After launching as a two-man start-up, Medichecks welcomed 14 new people in an expansion, bringing its headcount to 80.

The company expanded its product range and forged commercial partnerships with brands including Dr Fertility.

It had finalist positions in the Health Tech Awards, for excellence in engagement and communications and the major project go live category, as well as in the National Business Women’s Awards, where chief commercial officer Amanda Howard was shortlisted for corporate leader of the year. Victoria Holden was shortlisted for most inspiring HR leader at the Great British Workplace Wellbeing Awards after earning recognition for her contribution to developing the company’s workplace wellbeing strategy.

She added: “I’m so proud I have been named a finalist in the Great British Workplace Wellbeing Awards.

"I firmly believe that we need to be well to be happy, happy people do a good job, and to be given the opportunity to put the focus on wellbeing at Medichecks and make it a positive place to work is a dream come true.”

Medichecks also won the top 20 health and social care companies from the Best Companies awards.
