Sherwood MP and Chief Whip Mark Spencer says back Boris Johnson the champion

Sherwood MP Mark Spencer told the Advertiser it's time to let Prime Minister Boris Johnson get on with delivering Brexit.

"We had a referendum more than three years ago, and I think getting on for 40 months after its important to deliver on the result of the referendum," he said.

"The Prime Minister recognises that lack of delivery by those who went before him, and is intent on solving the problem.

"The House of Commons have had 40 months, and all they've decided is what they don't want.

"The establishment can't decide on the way forward, and what the Prime Minister has is leadership and the vision to draw a line in the sand."

Mr Spencer, who was appointed the Government's Chief Whip by Boris Johnson, said businesses were approaching him saying they didn't care whether the country stays in the EU or not, they just wanted to be able to plan ahead.

"The priority is to find a deal the Commons can vote for, but that has to be the end of the process," he said.

"Boris is a negotiator and if you look at his delivery, as Mayor of London he did reduce knife crime and deliver the 2012 London Olympics. He does deliver.

"It's time that the House of Commons got behind him and our champion and negotiator, and let him get on with delivering Brexit.

"Let's back Boris."
