Bank staff take to the treadmill for charity
Staff at a bank are walking more than 150 miles between them to raise money for charity.
Employees at Lloyds Bank, in Stodman Street, Newark, are working in shifts to cover the 152 miles required to complete the Coast To Coast walk.
It is designed to replicate the distance between St Bees, Cumbria, and Robin Hood’s Bay, North Yorkshire.
Miss Clare Sears, customer services assistant at the bank, picked a distance that she thought was manageable for the 14 staff who are taking turns on a treadmill at the bank. The challenge takes place between 9am and 5pm, every day this week.
Money raised will be donated to Mental Health UK, which is Lloyds Bank’s chosen charity for this year.
Miss Sears said: “We have staff who all have different levels of fitness, so I picked a distance which I thought was achievable.
“They were a bit cautious at first, but once they got on the treadmill they were fine.
“Customers love it, and as much as we are raising money by doing this, we are also raising awareness of mental health.
“We have done cycling challenges in the past, but we picked walking this year as it was a bit different.”
Other staff who have taken part in the challenge are: Stef Hanson, Karen Smith, Zoe Marriott, Deb Hooper, Dean Evans, Elise Dean, Jackie Swann, Helen Westell, Jacqui Rawlin, Jonathan Blundell, Steve Bingham, Leonie Mabbott, Steve Queenborough.
