A proposal for around 500 houses and an employment site at the former RAF Newton has been given community backing.

The scheme was one of two presented to the Newton Liaison Group by Hunter Page Planning on behalf of the landowners.

They supported the mixed use option, which already has interest from a potential single user.

As well as around 500 homes, there would be an office centre and an 11-hectare employment site on the former RAF base.

Hunter Page Planning hopes to be able to hold a public exhibition about the proposal by the end of the month, ahead of submitting a planning application in April.
